Partaker CottageWe have come up to Lake Arrowhead for a few days. The weather is quite different here than in Florida. (There really isn’t any snow here, but I forgot the camera!) When we arrived the outside temperature was 25 degrees…inside Partaker Cottage was 37! This is the temperature that we leave the thermostat at when we leave. We turned the heater – not forced air – up to 68 and went off to lunch. By 6 pm it was 57 inside. But then that is what sweaters are for.

It has gotten warmer over the last few days. We have had great walks. There is a lot of construction going on and we have been watching new and re-construction since the summer. We feel it is our job when here to critique the progress, or as is often the case, lack of progress.

This morning we walked over on the UCLA Conference Center side. We walked along the lake and continued to marvel at the huge homes that are rarely occupied. To be a house-sitter for one of them would be a great job.

Big game on TV tonight. We get to stay up here because we have just gotten DirecTV here and one for Prime Time, which we will take back with us. Just think, we can be in Florida and catch the 5 o’clock local news at 8; our receiver will think it is in California. Guess we will need to get a waiver for the local stations.

Happy New Year everyone! We begin gathering the next boat load when we return home. We have one way tickets to Florida on the 15th. “He who would be Jimmy Buffet” is looking forward to the warmer weather!

We are home and celebrating with our family. Jameson and Robyn (the NEW York) have come for a visit and it is so nice to have all of our children here. This is not our tree. Pretty cool, huh? It was one of the trees decorated by a school on the grounds of the Edison Estate in Florida. She wishes you a Merry Christmas also!

As we walked over the bridge to visit the “New and Used Marine Store” a la Miney’s, Kelley shared with me that he had heard a lady talking to the clerk there Sunday about a loud commotion near the river. She thought that maybe an alligator had gotten hold of someone. Scary! Alligators…

So, as I am cooking dinner I am watching the news and yikes!

Update: Woman’s body found floating in Fort Myers By WINK News

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A woman’s body was found floating in the water.

The Fort Myers Police Department is conducting an investigation into the death of a woman who was found in the Caloosahatchee River at approximately 1:55 Tuesday afternoon. The captain of a boat, that was docked near the City Pier, called police when he saw someone floating in the water.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday and police are attempting to identify the body though missing person reports and boating records.

No mention of alligators … probably wouldn’t have found her body.

Love this excitement! Looking forward to home tomorrow!

It is Christmas today. New bikes were purchased…I have to admit, I am overwhelmed at the amount of money that one of us is spending. There always seems to be shopping that needs to be done and the trip always turns into a “buying” trip, not a “looking” trip.

Our friends, Diane and Bob, left this morning for Colorado, their home, for the holidays. This afternoon I drove another couple, Jim and Maggie, to the airport. They are flying home to Las Vegas. Diane has arranged rides for everyone. Jim will pick Kelley and I up when we return in January. I will pick Diane and Bob up when they arrive. Diane and Bob are going to share there car with us. Others have offered their car as well. Boaters are so generous and helpful.
