The wind was howling all night; water rushing past the boat; fog and great dampness this morning. With all of the wind I would have thought it would have been cooler last night, but it was warm inside the boat. Too warm.

We hung around on the boat waiting until we could leave. Check in time at Boca Grande Marina is 2 and we were at most 30 minutes away. Finally it was time to go. I drove the boat so that Kelley could bring in the anchor and secure it. And off we went. There is deep water outside Pelican Bay and all the way to Boca Grande.

This trip was full of firsts: my first time tying to the poles and Kelley’s first time backing this boat into a slip. Success on both counts! As soon as we were checked in we left the boat for a walk to town. It is only a few blocks from here and only about two blocks long.

I was reminded of our trip to the Northwest with the O’Neils. Cute little spots.

Hudson’s Market had the tapennade I was looking for in Fort Myers.

Even though there is a storm expected, this is where we are having dinner, The Sea Grille. It came highly recommended by locals.

No engraved invitations! No R.S.V.P.’s asked for. Just a come if you can….

We borrowed tables to put in front of the boat. We had food and drink…I think people we have never seen could smell it all and that is why they came, but, the more the merrier!

We unnamed BarMarVI on Saturday, January 20th and then christened her Prime Time.

This was another ‘Bike Night” about which I have written and so there was a band playing. I was pleased we had live entertainment for our gala.

We thought the gathering would last about an hour and a half, but it went on for 4 hours. Once the food and the wine was gone, people called it quits.

We cleaned up around 9. Got on our boat…got into comfy clothes and down came the rain! Amazing.

Good Times ahead on Prime Time.

Bacchus! All of the people that we have met here in the Marina all go for Happy Hour at Bacchus! It is a nice chance to catch up with everyone – although to be honest, we see almost everyone daily.

The group has welcomed us with open arms. I enjoy them all. There are teachers, quilters, artists…people that live full time on their boats, others that have homes or RVs that they enjoy when they aren’t boating (or in the summer).

Cheers!

I leave you with this last picture. There is a museum in the historical section (which is where we are) and it is being completely restored. There are 2 large black circular pieces that are in front of the museum. They are made out of metal and have words that are cut into them. I have walked by them many times during the day and tried to figure out why the pieces are even there. I think that the words are the names of plants…but at night, this is what the pieces do. It is a sight to behold.

This is the front of the museum. Love it!

Those of you who really know us, know how much we HATE shopping! And imagine being somewhere without a car and really not a clue where everything is. Fort Myers is a sprawling city. It takes forever to get anywhere. The Barrys are letting us use their car when we need one. We thank them so much for that. But today, we all needed so many things.

Into their car we go…we hit, Lowes (a microwave convection oven for me); TJ Maxx (just to look but did find a treasure or two); Costco (duh); Sam’s Club (Barrys’ spot); and Totally Wine (another duh for those of you who KNOW us). At Sam’s Kelley bought us a pizza and we treated dinner and ate on Free Spirit with Dianne and Bob.

We were all tired puppies, but not too tired to play Mexican Train. Ann, I sure wish I had your game with the whistle!
